Welcome to Phoenix!
This year I will be in Phoenix Class with the year 3’s. I am excited to start the year as I have a particular interest in teaching this age group. As the children have just left key stage 1 they are now maturing in both their behavior and in their work. Because of this, they have the capability to progress over the year. I’m sure, as a class, we will develop in both academic aspects and in being mature members of Woolaston School. The fact that they progress is not just evident to the teachers in the school but also to the children themselves means that they start to reflect on their work and look for improvements that will move them forward.
I enjoy teaching the various parts of the school curriculum but I specifically like history and English. Children in year 3 seem to have an amazing ability to absorb all the facts and information about exciting parts of history. It is brilliant when, by the end of a topic on history, the children have acquired a bank of amazing knowledge. English lessons are often the ones I look forward to teaching most. The development in the handwriting, spelling and punctuation (among other aspects) over the course of an academic year is greatly improved and it’s brilliant when children notice the improvements themselves.
I am looking forward to working with Phoenix Class throughout the coming year. I look forward to meeting you at parents evening and during the coming weeks. If there are any questions or queries you would like to ask then please come and visit me at school.
