I have been Teaching art at Woolaston Primary School in an official capacity for 9 years and I love the 3 days each week that I spend with the children and Staff. It is a very friendly and happy environment to work in. Before this I came into school regularly as a “mum helper” in my two sons classes (they are now 20 and 18).
I have an Ma (RCA) (Royal College of art). I have worked in graphic design studios and book publishers, taught in University and on Art Foundation courses. On the 2 days that I am not employed by the school, I work from home as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer (mainly for one company in London).
I love gardening, particularly my vegetable plot, reading, film and art (of course!). I find working with the children very rewarding and great fun. I hope that my interest and enthusiasm for my subject ‘rubs off’ on them a little before they leave the school. I believe that art is for everyone to enjoy and that it can be a ‘refuge’ or ‘open a door’ for some children.
