Woolaston Primary School has been given the opportunity to participate in a new mental health support programme called Trailblazers. The aim of this programme is to make mental health support more readily available to children and young people
We are one of 72 schools from Gloucestershire who will work with the NHS to introduce Mental Health Support Teams into schools. It is hoped that these teams will provide support to our pupils with issues such as anxiety, friendship concerns, SATs stress and challenging behaviour.
The support may be in the form of group work and/or individual, one-to-one support and could take place at school or elsewhere and if appropriate the Mental Health Support Team will also link up with the specialist mental health services in Gloucestershire. As well as supporting the pupils the teams will also provide support to parents and teachers to help children and young people who are experiencing difficulties.
The Mental Health Support Team will be coming to school in the next few weeks and this will enable us to provide further information regarding dates, times and the referral process.
