Welcome to Woodpeckers!

Hello, I'm Mr Rushton, and I’m thrilled to be teaching Year 4 and 5 this year. These are two fantastic year groups, and I genuinely enjoy exploring the rich and varied curriculum with them. I’m really looking forward to seeing the brilliant progress each child makes as we learn and grow together. 

This year, I’m delighted to be joined by Mrs Smith, who will be our class Teaching Assistant. Her support, enthusiasm, and care make a real difference in the classroom, and together we’re looking forward to a fantastic year of learning.

Homework

Homework will be shared virtually every Friday, alternating weekly between Maths and English tasks. This rotation helps reinforce key skills while keeping learning fresh and focused. Completed homework should be submitted by the following Wednesday to allow time for feedback and support.

Spellings 

Each child has been given their spelling list to practise at home. Spelling tests take place every Friday, so regular practice throughout the week is encouraged. If you need an extra copy of the spelling list, you’ll find one available below.

PE

Our PE slot is every Friday afternoon. There is an extra 'fitness lesson' each Thursday in term 1. Please ensure your child has school PE kit on these days.
