Welcome to Woolaston School!

We are extremely excited to welcome your children to our classroom, whether this is the start of their school journey or they are returning to us after their first year at our school. We have been working hard to create an exciting curriculum that will help to develop your children's academic and social skills. Our aim is to meet the needs of all of our pupils and to inspire a love of learning.

PE

Our PE lesson will be every Tuesday.

Please send in a PE kit consisting of black shorts and a white t shirt or polo shirt  and black daps or black/white trainers. Children may also wear navy or black leggings or tracksuit bottoms and a navy or black sweatshirt. In the first week of the school year we will provide a logo drawstring bag to keep their PE kit in. As with all other items please label everything! Hair should be tied back and earrings taken out if possible. 

Reading

This is a crucial age for children to be developing their reading skills and we will be encouraging a love of reading and the development of phonic ability. Children will be given a book to bring home and we would love for you to read it with them. Reading books will be changed every Wednesday.

 

How can you help your child with reading at home?

• Play lots of sound and listening games with your child
• Practise their Read Write Inc sounds and red words
• Read as much as possible to and with your child
• Encourage them to make a guess if they are struggling with a word, suggest saying each sound in the word
• Praise as much as possible!
